Star* Publish Times

Vol. 1, Ed. 1

In August, 2006, the news media broadcast the astonishing news that the planet Pluto had been reduced to the status of a "dwarf planet." The same week, the news permeated the airwaves that the most spectacular shooting star display since 1862 would occur.

Was it fate, coincidence, or good planning on the part of Star* Publish that they planned the launch of their new "Shooting Star* Books Program" at the same time? Whatever it was, it couldn't have been anticipated with better coverage. Kristie Leigh Maguire, owner of Star* Publish, must have seen it written in the stars.

The Shooting Star* Books Program plans to invade every corner of the United States. Will they send a missile into outer space? Even Star* Publish hasn't figured out quite how to do that. However, they do plan to send their books into the far-reaching corners of the country by notifying many of the bookstores, nationwide, of the exciting new authors and topics so they can be found any time you walk into a bookstore, whether it is an independent store or one of the big chains. No more will you have to go to an online bookstore and wait until the book you just can't wait to read shows up in your mailbox. Yes, you will still be able to get them there, if that is your preference.

This is innovative, earth-shattering news for authors, readers and booksellers. As one bookstore manager asked Janet Elaine Smith, the Marketing Director of Star* Publish, "How many times can I sell The Da Vinci Code to the same customers?"

In honor of the planet Pluto and their philosophy that "work can be fun," Star* Publish's owner, Kristie Leigh Maguire, and their Marketing Director, Janet Elaine Smith have dubbed themselves "Pluto" and "Goofy." We'll let you figure out who is which one.

There will be posters and promotional material for all participating stores. Watch for them and go hang your wishes on a Star--a Star* Book, that is.

Star* Publish Names Marketing Director

Janet Elaine Smith came onto the book publishing scene in June 2000 with the release of her first book, Dunnottar. With no marketing background and not even knowing an author had to market their own book, she soon proved that hard work, good luck and the right contacts could bring success. The fact that bookstores are now more open to stocking Print-on-demand books is due in large part to Janet's unique, fun phone calls to bookstores. Janet's book, Promo Paks: Nearly-Free Marketing for Authors, is published in e-book format by Star* Publish.

In addition to being appointed to the Star* Publish staff as Marketing Director, Janet will be in charge of the new Shooting Star Books program, where her services will be available for Star authors.
