ALWAYS BE PREPARED!
It is part of the Boy Scouts of America, but in today's troubled world
it means so much more than that.
In the past week, Al Qaida threatened to keep on with their acts of terrorism
until the White House has been blown up.
In the past week, Acetyphenamine, which most of us have taken to get rid of
a simple headache, had pieces of metal in millions of bottles of the common drug.
In the past few months, we were warned not to eat spinach, as it was contaminated.
Can't you just picture millions of kids crying because they can't have their daily fix of spinach?
As readers, we can be prepared too. We are entering what is commonly called
"The holiday season." What can we do to prepare ourselves? Yes, you can go shopping early so you are all organized. But if
you just can't seem to get into that holiday mood, the best solution might be to find a good book that invokes that feeling
of peace on earth, good will to men. Check out the reviews section to get some holiday reading ideas.
As an author, what can you do to help spread good cheer to people everywhere?
There is nothing quite as inspiring as to write a holiday book when the Christmas tree lights are twinkling, or the menorah
is sparkling on the table, and the swells of "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" are playing on the radio or the
rest of the family are busy watching "Miracle on 34th Street." Granted, it is too early to start shopping it around for a
publisher in December, but by March you should be on that path. Major magazines usually stop accepting holiday manuscripts
And don't forget, if you come up with a really good manuscript, contact Star* Publish. They might be the perfect place to make those Christmas (or Hannukah or Kwanza) dreams come true.
HITTING THE AIRWAVES
Star* Publish's Marketing Director, Janet Elaine Smith, has been asked by Internet Voices Radio producer Lillian Cauldwell
to read a chapter a day from Janet's popular book, A Christmas Dream
, from Dec. 1-Dec. 20. In addition, sound effects,
etc. will be added, making it a very professional offering.
The readings will be pre-recorded to give time to put
the "finishing touches" on it, then it will also be made available for purchase as Janet Elaine Smith's very first
Audio book, as well as the first Star* Publish title that will go into that venue. (Note: Star* Publish is not sponsoring
the Audio book.)
Star* Publish is the sponsor of Janet's two radio programs that are heard weekly on Internet Voices
Radio. The programs are "Marketing for Fun and Profit" on Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET, and "Vamos a Hablar Espaņol" (Let's Speak
Spanish) on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. They can be heard live, or later in the archives, by going to http://internetvoicesradio.com
and clicking on Janet's name in the schedule.
