Allyn Evans signs books in Oxford, MS

Star* author Allyn Evans got a chance to return to her alma mater to speak to a group of approximately 75 women about her book, Grab the Queen Power. The following is her recount of the exciting experience. Who says "You can't go back"? Allyn has proven that you can indeed. Congratulations on a great event. Star* Publish is proud of you!
"What fun I had in Oxford, MS in March. I graduated years ago from the University of Mississippi, and thanks to Baptist Memorial Hospital, I was invited to return. Seventy-five plus women showed up to hear my topic:  "Not Barbie, Not Married to Ken."
Besides selling five books as give aways, I sold ten additional books to attendees and also received a speaking fee.
To top the event off, the organizers purchased tiaras for everyone and handed out t-shirts. Additionally, the hospital staff secured a radio interview for me and made sure the local press showed up to take pictures and write an article.
Not a bad way to spend my spring break, huh?
Here's what one attendee said after the talk, "Allyn Evans was fantastic!  It's so nice to know everyone suffers from the 'committee on the brain' syndrome.  My 'committee' has worn me out over the last 40 years.  I'm tired of always trying to keep up with the Barbie Doll image dream.  Thanks, Allyn, for opening my eyes to what really is important!"

Kristie Leigh Maguire with Affairs of the Heart
With CRM Libby at Barnes & Noble in The Woodlands, Texas

Kristie Leigh Maguire, owner of Star* Publish LLC, headed out from Reno Nevada with her husband to return to their home in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Not one to ignore her duties as the head honcho at Star* Publish, she embarked on a treasure hunt. The prize? To find her books in various bookstores in the cities and towns they passed through.
Star* Publish has had their Shooting Star Books Program in effect since Sept. 2006. The goal? To get as many of the Star* books on the shelves of bookstores, both independent and the major chains, as possible. People have said it can't be done. But Star* Marketing Director Janet Elaine Smith has never shunned a challenge. Besides, she had already done it with her own books, so why not just expand it to include other Star* books?
Has it worked? As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. And Kristie didn't have to worry about "eating crow" as she stopped at various bookstores as they drove from Reno Nevada to Miami Florida. The proof was when she would go into a store that had already been contacted by phone about the Shooting Star books and she would find her books there on the shelves. The picture above is Kristie at the Barnes & Noble store in The Woodlands, Texas. No, they didn't know she was coming. It was just one of Kristie's hit-and-miss spot checks on her treasure hunt!
To all of the delightful bookstore managers who have not only been enthusiastic to the phone calls from Star* Publish's Marketing Department but who have followed through and put the books on their shelves, many times even in places of preference, a huge "Thank you."

And to Kriste and Stan, we are so glad you made it safe and sound to your "old-new" home. Now it's time for you to get back to work. There are lots more bookstores, lots more fun ahead, and several new books that have been submitted in the month you've been MIA!
